Core Blockchain Concepts

A blockchain is a distributed ledger that records transactions across a network of computers. Each block contains a list of transactions, a timestamp, and a cryptographic hash of the previous block, forming a secure chain. This structure ensures data integrity and tamper evidence through cryptographic hashing and consensus mechanisms.

Transaction Process

A deep dive into the cryptographic verification and consensus mechanisms that secure every block in the network.

01
Transaction Initiation

A user sends a digital transaction request to the local node, which packages the data into a transaction object.

02
Hashing & Security

The transaction is processed using cryptographic hashing to generate a unique, tamper-evident identifier for the block.

03
Network Propagation

The transaction is broadcast to a decentralized network of nodes, where each participant verifies the cryptographic integrity.

04
Consensus Validation

Nodes reach consensus through consensus mechanisms, ensuring all copies of the ledger are identical and secure.

05
Permanent Ledger

The verified block is permanently added to the distributed ledger, creating an immutable record of the transaction.

Nodes and Consensus

Blockchain networks rely on a decentralized network of nodes to maintain integrity. These nodes validate transactions and communicate ledger updates. Different consensus mechanisms—such as Proof of Work (PoW) and Proof of Stake (PoS)—ensure that all participants agree on the state of the ledger, providing a tamper-evident record of shared data.
